On Saturday November 17th, I had a lovely day in New York City with my mom and one of my best friends Tori and her mom. The city day including going to one of the best pizza places in NYC, John's Pizzeria of Times Square. If you have never been to John's you need to go right now!
John's Pizzeria of Times Square is located on 260 W. 44th Street New York, NY 10036. It is a perfect location especially if you're going to see a Broadway play, like we were. I have only had the pizza at John's but it never fails to disappoint. Our order for the four of us was one large pizza (8 slices) split in half between Margherita and Pizza Bianca with grilled chicken. It was perfectly delicious.
Besides the pizza the other glorious thing about John's is the atmosphere. John's Pizzeria was once an old Gospel Tabernacle Church. When you go to John's you can sit in the front which is the typical pizzeria setting but what you really want to do is sit in the back or upstairs part to see the scenery of John's.
John's opened up in June of 1997 and since then John's of Times Square has been known as one the most unique pizzerias in the world, as well as one of New York's best pizzas because if its unique characteristics. All of John's pizzas are made to to order in one of their four coal-fired brick ovens and like a cast iron pan, their ovens season with age, making no two pizzas the same. The 800 degree coal fired ovens have no thermostats to control heat and are operated by John's employees who have gone through months of extensive training. They pride themselves on fresh ingredients and incomparable recipes, making their pizzas second to none.
After eating at John's we then headed to see the Broadway musical Beautiful. Although I did not know much about Carole King beforehand this play was still spectacular. I was thrilled to see how many songs I knew that were connected to her that I didn't know before. The costumes, actors, and actresses were all phenomenal. If you are looking for a Broadway musical to see I highly recommend going to see beautiful.
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is described as a jukebox musical with a book by Douglas McGrath the tells the story of the early life and career of Carole King. The play uses songs that she wrote and ones she often wrote with Gerry Goffin and other contemporary songs by Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil Phil Spector and others. You can look for tickets here.
Overall, I had a beautiful day in the city with amazing and beautiful people, food, and Broadway musical.
Hope you have a beautiful day!
