About Jackie Rafferty

    Welcome to my website,

I am currently working at HaddadBrands as an Assistant Fashion Designer on the Levis Girls Team. I am a 2019 alumna from the University of Delaware. I graduated with two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in Apparel Design and the other in Fashion Merchandising

This website showcases my fashion growth and experience at the University of Delaware, my work postgrad, fashion and lifestyle blogpost, as well as selling some of my designs and creations.

I yearn to design everyday wear for women, men, and children and I am passionate about sustainability. My biggest design inspiration comes from beaches around the world. Since a child, I have connected myself spiritually with the warm, bright, and sunny shores of Long Island. Little did I know as a little girl that my happy place would lead me to the world of fashion.

A world that has allowed me to use the beach as my biggest inspiration and connect it with colors and textures specifically, that have resulted in me creating simple and preppy designs for both womenswear and menswear. I am focused and connected to designing garments that showcase a joyful and simple lifestyle.

A few of my favorite designers are Ralph Lauren, Lilly Pulitzer, Oscar de la Renta, Tommy Hilfiger, Dior, Michael Kors, Victoria Beckham, Tory Burch, and DVF.

    My Goals

    • Work for a fashion brand that I am passionate about and support their mission and vision.

    • Be able to be the bridge between design and merchandising no matter what position I am in.

    • Continually support and promote sustainability in the fashion industry.

    • Be a supportive alumni to the University of Delaware's Fashion Department.

    Success! Message received.

Why I Chose Apparel Design & Fashion Merchandising

I decided I wanted to have a career in the fashion industry my sophomore year of high school. In high school my favorite classes were art, history, and math. Originally I had thought that my favorite classes was a very random combination, until I started to look into careers in the fashion industry. I came to the conclusion that I wanted to go to college for Fashion Design. Talking with my parents about the major I wanted to pursue they also suggested I look into a business minor. Overall I discovered at the University of Delaware I was able to double major in Apparel Design and Fashion Merchandising. Being able to double major in these two fashion majors was very important to me because most universities do not offer this as a possibility. I have been greatly pleased with what I have learned at the University of Delaware in both of these majors and for the opportunities I have been able to  have over my college years. My favorite courses have dealt with my sewing, adobe illustrator and photoshop work, sourcing, planning, and globalization in the fashion industry.
